Choosing the Right White!……
Choosing the right white can really do our heads in. I don’t know about you but I get really stuck in the weeds about which white to choose.
Firstly do we choose a warm white or a cool white?
How do we want the room to make us feel? Warm and cosy or cool and breezy.
I feel that when you live in a cool climate I have a tendency to steer towards a warm white especially in a very large room. Open plan living spaces can become all consuming so if you have a lot of white you don’t want to feel like it’s too sterile or cold like in a hospital.
In a warmer climate it’s pretty safe to go with a cool white as you want the feeling of beachyness and coastal breezes.
Just as a tip warm whites tend to throw a yellow tone and cool whites throw a blue tone. So keep this in mind when you are choosing a white for your space.
My advice is to always get an A4 sample card or a paint pot and sample some spots in the room to give you an idea of what it looks like at different times of the day.
And let’s face it if we don’t like it we can just paint over it. It’s just paint and one of the easiest transformations we can make to our homes and one of the least expensive too. So go for it:).
